ALT Text, also called an ALT Tag, is a brief description of a media file in the form of a sentence or a set of keywords.

Why is ALT Text Important?

Adding ALT text to your image is an important part of improving accessibility and creating a positive impact on your website’s Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

The text attached to an image is considered to be “invisible” and won’t appear on a web page. Image ALT text is a type of metadata which includes a variety of hidden pieces of information that search engines can read yet visitors can’t see.

However, in the event that your website doesn’t load properly, the image ALT text will appear as a placeholder.
